Here is our priority for where to place door contacts on a new construction door.
Door sensors where possible ( we run wire through keypad if possible)
1st choice: Press-to fit installed door handle side
2nd choice: Press-to fit installed top
3rd choice: located in keypad box next to door
4th choice: drilled ¾” for plunger
5th choice: coiled in attic above door
6th choice: coiled in unfinished room below
7th choice: stubbed out of door frame. It is key to communicate with builder and to return after the door is installed, before the trim is done.
Be sure to leave slack in the door jamb for service
For sliding doors: We ALWAYS use a recessed contact in the side, but towards the top. then we finish with a 5899 magnet.
For ALL DOORS: We use a new SHARP 3/8” paddle bit to avoid damaging the door.
