When our tech goes out to a new construction site to do a trim out, we soon realize there is not power and we cannot finish the job. What we normally do in that case is still finish all connections, programming, and testing all sensors. Unfortunately, due to the battery save feature of our panel systems, they will not power up on the battery.
Here is the tech tip: if we need to power the system up on the battery, our team uses a temporarily jumper on the battery negative to keypad negative. It just needs a ½ second tap to work. That will allow the system to run on the battery. When we finish, we unplug the battery to power it down. Then we can just plug the battery back in.
These tech tips are intended to provide insights to small nuances to help with many different products we offer. It is the small attention to detail that separates an outstanding job from an OK one. Although these apply primarily to technicians, they will help others gain insight to what the technicians do – in small doses.
