The holidays have come and gone, faster than an excited kid opening presents on Christmas morning. The decorations have been taken down, or they are at least in the process of being taken down. If you are anything like me your house seems like there is just something missing once all of the extra decorations are put away. Creating a home theater room might just be the change that your home needs to fill the missing piece.
Here are some things to know before you start your project:
1. Your project doesn’t have to be a huge undertaking, unless you want it to be.
It can start out as simple as a new flat panel TV and high quality speakers.
2. Making sure your space is conducive to producing the best acoustic quality is a top priority.
*Your speakers are really not the biggest contributing factor when it comes to the sound produced.
*The items in your room determine the acoustics. If you have lots of hardwood floors and other wooden furniture the result will be very different from a room with plush carpet, rugs, drapes and upholstered furniture.
3. If you have a space that you want to transform into a dedicated theater room there are several point to consider:
*How will you make sure everyone has “the best seat in the house” ?
*Are you going to use a projector or a TV?
*Will speakers be installed?
*Make sure that you have your room laid out properly. (IE: The door opening and allowing light to flood in can interrupt the flow of the movie)
