Did you know that when a panel is powered down, its clock goes back to January 1, 2000. Obviously, that is not what we want it to be. So our techs make sure we reset the clock. This also applies to any “low battery work order” where the system has lost power. If a client has a system that has any scheduled arming or door locks, etc this could create a huge problem for them if the clock is off. We also make it a standard to set the clock on any service call.
Side note: Commercial panels reset to midnight on the day they lost power – still not ideal – their clocks set by the same command, but do it from an alpha keypad. They are more likely to use schedules to control other operations such as door locking schedules, etc…
