cybersecurity

At a time of increased awareness of cybersecurity, Hawkeye would like to remind you of the high security features available to you, and to encourage you to follow best practices to secure your systems.

These practices include:
• Good password practices (including changing passwords frequently, deleting expired users, and securing this information so it cannot be exploited by unauthorized persons.)

• Secure your personal environment by securing your WiFi router, keeping the password private, and strictly limiting who has access to the router; likewise all computers should have up-to-date virus protection and firewall features active at all times.

• Always using RF Jam detection (built into every Honeywell wireless security system)

• Always using encryption features when available

The emergence of the “Internet of Things” paralleled by reports of attempted cybersecurity exploits of connected devices makes this an opportune time to remind you about these cyber security best practices.

These tech tips are intended to provide insights to small nuances to help with many different products we offer. It is the small attention to detail that separates an outstanding job from an OK one. Although these apply primarily to technicians, they will help others gain insight to what the technicians do – in small doses.
